The Isabela State University at Cabagan, Isabela is one of the six original institutions integrated into a single university by virtue of PD 1434, s. 1978. Its former name is Cagayan Valley Institute of Technology. Thirty eight years after, the campus has grown so much expanding from its agri-forestry based courses to include programs in teacher education, the arts and sciences, communication, criminal justice, information technology, business and management. It has also grown its graduate education to include advance education in agriculture, forestry, education, and development communication and biology. From its original campus in Catabayungan, Cabagan, Isabela, it has transferred to its new campus at Garita, Cabagan, Isabela consisting of about 250 hectares. A site development plan was then made for the new campus which remained to be the basis for infrastructure development of the campus with few departures to conform to the context of the times as well as to problems on land ownership disputes.
